Exfoliating correctly is key - have a read of our aftercare guide or ask us and we can give you a couple of secrets. Alternatively we stock a great oil to help prevent ingrown hairs.
Waxing by YoggieBear only operates when safe to do so and follows the Ministry of Health Guidelines for the provision of personal services. This includes mask use and tight hygiene, supplies and tool protocols.
We are double vaccinated and require all clients to have undertaken Covid-19 vaccination. We ask all clients to checkin via the NZCovid app and we scan all clients "My Vaccine Pass"
If you have any query regarding our Covid-19 protocols, please ask us.
Usually 4 to 5 weeks between waxing or when the hair is about 2mm long. If you stay on a regular schedule your hair will become sparce and finer over time.
All redness should subside within a few hours and up until 24 hours after you wax. Please refer to our Aftercare Guide.
For Chest, Stomach, Back and Arms we will need your top removed and depending how far down your torso you wish to have waxed, we may need to go further down.
For leg waxing, you will only need to remove your Leg coverings
For Brozilian / Brazilian, we will need your underwear removed. You are provided with a towel for your comfort and modesty while we are waxing.
Typically, a Front Brozilian / Brazilian removes the hair from the pubic bone to the perineum and includes waxing the penis and testicles as needed while a Back Brozilian / Brazilian removes the hair from the perineum through to the tail bone ie: the crack.
Planning is the key. Aim to have your waxing session 5-7 days prior to the occasion to ensure all redness and irritation has subsided. Read our Pre-Waxing guide for preparation steps and our Aftercare guide for the recommended Aftercare. If a 'Touch-up' may be required between the session and the occasion, please talk to us.
Unfortunately, reactions to waxing can occur on sensitive areas. It’s very unlikely to be an allergy to the wax. It is most often a histamine reaction (the body’s natural reaction to tissue injury) which will go away in 24-48 hours. Sometimes the reaction can be an infection, which is much more serious.
You must tell us if you are using any kind of retinol, peeling creams or have been taking antibiotics, as these may have an adverse effect on your wax aftercare.
If you experience bumps or ongoing irritation, call us! We will probably instruct you to apply a little cortisone or calendula cream on the area or ask you to come into the clinic so we can treat the area.
We cannot emphasise how important it is to call us about this.
We are used to this. It can be a little intimidating or uncomfortable to be partially or entirely naked with a stranger, but remember we are here to get the area cleaned and waxed. We aim to make all of our clients as comfortable as possible and we understand that you may be feeling anxious. Most clients feel very comfortable after their first session with us.
If you need the waxing session to pause or stop or you need some alone time, just tell us, this is not unusual for first time clients or for regulars when getting their first sensitive area waxing.
First time clients, we ask to sight Photo ID and we record that we have sighted it.
Under the age of 18 first time clients we ask that a parent, guardian or care giver attends the initial 15 minute consultation. Thereafter, the client is able to manage their own requests and bookings.
Brazilian / Brozilian (Front or Back) for under 18's is available but we need to chat with you first.
Our premises are video and Audio monitored however no intimate waxing is captured on video. This is for everyones safety and piece of mind. If you prefer this be disabled, just talk to us.
If it is your first time with us, your waxologist will do a quick consultation with you to ensure the best results and answer any questions you may have. Make sure you tell your waxologist:
The types of skin care you are using, such as retinol, vitamin A, skin lighteners, acids (glycolic, lactic, salicylic) etc.
If you have ever had any problems with waxing in the past.
About any allergies or skin conditions you may have.
If you are shy or more comfortable with certain positions. There are no right or wrong ways, just different techniques. If you are used to something in particular, please let us know. We are here to make you feel comfortable.
The easy answer is a definite No!
We will trim hair as needed to ensure the best possible wax application.
After careful assessment, we selected Jax Wax of Australia as our sole Wax, Pre and Post care products supplier. We may use or recommend one of our own hand crafted YoggieBear Skincare products for Aftercare use.
We prefer to use the Hot waxes however, in some areas such as arms and legs, we may use soft wax. If you have a preference, let us know.
There are several benefits such as...
We follow the Ministry of Healths guidelines for the delivery of Personal Services such as:
Beard hair can be wiry. At best, an itchy beard will have you picking, pulling and scratching at your jaw during the worst moments: job interviews, dates and during office-wide Zoom calls. That's why Yoggies beard oil helps soften the beard by moisturising each individual hair. Plus, softening and conditioning the skin under the beard helps relieve you of the often-pesky itch that comes with growing a beard.
To use Beard Oil, add 3-5 drops to hands, rub together to spread oil evenly. Apply to skin before or after shaving. For beards, work through hair to condition skin first, then to whiskers using downward strokes. Comb/brush through to distribute beard oil evenly. It's great for conditioning beards and preventing dry/itchy skin.
First, give it a good wash. Clean out the grime, invigorate the senses and prime your beard with Beard Wash.
Condition, shape, and tame your beard with beard balm. Start by applying balm to your beard, avoiding the skin underneath. Use a beard comb or brush to distribute the product evenly through your beard.
A good beard oil can't be over-stated. Add 3-5 drops to your hands, rub them together to spread the oil evenly. Apply the oil to your skin before or after shaving. For beards, work the beard oil through your beard hair to condition skin first, then to whiskers using downward strokes. Comb/brush through the beard oil to distribute evenly. Growing a long beard is an art. You'll find some of your proudest moments might be days when your beard looks most on point. The best way to grow a long beard is to take good care of it with quality grooming products.
Growing a long beard might be for you, or you might try one of the many beard styles listed in this article "What's the best beard style for you? Browse our beard style checklist."
Great question. Growing a beard comes with a few different seasons. First, there's the dreaded itchy beard stage, Next, there's the "in between" phase where you almost have your beard just how you like it. Finally, there's perfection. With patience and the right lineup of beard products, your beard game will be on point.
It's not magic, but sometimes finding the right solution to soften your beard can feel like it. For a softer beard, start your beard care regimen with the right eco-friendly wash without harsh chemicals. Next, get a good beard balm. Finally, don't skip the beard oil.
Don't worry. It happens to the best of us. We've got you covered: Wash with a good beard wash and don't forget the beard oil.
Growing a healthy beard starts with using high quality products without harsh chemicals. When we created the YoggieBear, Grooming Products beard oil, beard wash and beard balm lines, helping men grow a healthy beard was our M.O. Our products condition and nurture your skin and hair to help you grow facial hair to look your best.
Good question. Both help you look your best. Beard balm helps you tame your beard and shape it just how you like it. Beard oil contains ingredients for a deep conditioning of even the most wiry hairs.
No because Facial hair is constructed differently to head hair. Due to the hair follicles, facial hair is generally thicker and of a more wiry texture than hair on your head. The skin under the hair is also different. Hair on your scalp can be thinner and straighter whereas beard hair can be thick and curly, therefore, use products that are designed for the correct hair.
Whilst we sometimes use naturally derived and organically grown ingredients, we don't like to say our products are natural or organic. These are two very heavily exaggerated words in the cosmetic and personal care industry. Take it from us, if we were truely selling you natural and organic products, your products would not last two week in the fridge and we would have a completely different business model.
Yes. In fact, we encourage our clients to recycle their packaging when they have finished with their products. Please clean your empty bottles and tubes before placing them in the recycling bin. Aluminium tins may be dropped off at a local recycling collection point.
We are still looking into a means by which product packaging can be returned to us for recycling.
Acne can be caused by excess sebum oil and clogged pores. Doctors aren’t sure why some people get acne and others do not, but some research suggests that hormone levels may play a role. Acne is most common in young adults with increasing hormone levels, and about 80 percent of people will have at least one [acne] outbreak before age 30. It is less common in older adults, who tend to have steadier hormone levels.
Since stress can affect hormones, it may also play a role in the development of acne, but so far, there is no definitive evidence that factors such as stress, diet, or light makeup have any links with acne. If you have acne, wash gently with a mild cleanser no more than twice a day; and avoid hard scrubbing, exfoliating, and touching the affected areas.
Since sun damage increases the risk of skin cancer, as well as skin problems ranging from wrinkles to dark spots, wearing sunscreen on a daily basis is essential. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a minimum sun protection factor (SPF) of 15.
Beyond that, it takes just a few minutes each morning and each evening to do the basics: washing with a gentle cleanser such as those from The Ordinary Company and applying a moisturiser to your face and neck.
As your skin loses elasticity and collagen, it naturally begins to appear wrinkled and saggy. By caring for it and focusing on prevention, you can minimize these issues. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, and consider using eye creams and other topical products such as YoggieBears Rejuvenating Face Serum that contain retinoids and antioxidants, which can help improve the appearance of wrinkles and sagging skin.
Sometimes liquid magnesium is referred to as “magnesium oil” because of its silky texture, but it’s not an oil. Our products are non-staining and absorb quickly, unlike most true oils.
You may find liquid forms of magnesium combined with an oil on the market, and if you want something emollient, this might work for you.
Yes, a slight stinging is fine – to the point of personal comfort. If you find the magnesium chloride too strong for your skin, simply dilute with water
There is no maximum daily dose of topical magnesium. Think of using transdermal magnesium like swimming in the ocean; you can’t really overdo it!
If you experience skin dryness, itching, rash or flaking, you may simply need to further dilute the magnesium, and increase your use of moisturisers.
Transdermal magnesium is not known to have any other side effects.
The precautions are quite simple, because transdermal supplementation is very safe and effective.
The top five benefits of transdermal magnesium are as follows, feel free to review the many reputable science based articles on Magnesium benefits available on the web;
Studies conducted on patients who applied magnesium chloride in spray form to their lower limbs twice daily for four weeks showed improved quality of life with patients who suffered from fibromyalgia.
Magnesium increases GABA in the body, a neurotransmitter that promotes sleep. We recommend keeping some magnesium oil or gel close to your bed so you can either spray or rub it onto your feet before sleep or if you wake. This calms the nervous system, so it can help you gain a deeper and more restorative sleep.
Low levels of magnesium are associated with inflammation which impacts heart health. An essential role for magnesium is regulating muscle function, and of course, the heart is a vital organ that happens to be a muscle. When applied to the skin, magnesium is absorbed through the skin and directly into the tissue and cells, bypassing the gastrointestinal tract. Some research suggests that transdermal magnesium application may have a higher absorbency rate than magnesium supplements or magnesium from food sources.
Higher magnesium levels have been linked to higher bone density in postmenopausal women. Magnesium plays a role both directly and indirectly in bone health by regulating calcium and vitamin D levels, which are essential for strong, healthy bones.
If you have oily skin, applying magnesium oil or gel on your skin will help to reduce oiliness and help you get rid of premature ageing and acne. Read more about how magnesium plays a role in improving skin health here in our blog.
