Exfoliating correctly is key - have a read of our aftercare guide or ask us and we can give you a couple of secrets. Alternatively we stock a great oil to help prevent ingrown hairs.
Waxing by YoggieBear only operates when safe to do so and follows the Ministry of Health Guidelines for the provision of personal services. This includes mask use and tight hygiene, supplies and tool protocols.
We are double vaccinated and require all clients to have undertaken Covid-19 vaccination. We ask all clients to checkin via the NZCovid app and we scan all clients "My Vaccine Pass"
If you have any query regarding our Covid-19 protocols, please ask us.
Usually 4 to 5 weeks between waxing or when the hair is about 2mm long. If you stay on a regular schedule your hair will become sparce and finer over time.
All redness should subside within a few hours and up until 24 hours after you wax. Please refer to our Aftercare Guide.
For Chest, Stomach, Back and Arms we will need your top removed and depending how far down your torso you wish to have waxed, we may need to go further down.
For leg waxing, you will only need to remove your Leg coverings
For Brozilian / Brazilian, we will need your underwear removed. You are provided with a towel for your comfort and modesty while we are waxing.
Typically, a Front Brozilian / Brazilian removes the hair from the pubic bone to the perineum and includes waxing the penis and testicles as needed while a Back Brozilian / Brazilian removes the hair from the perineum through to the tail bone ie: the crack.
Planning is the key. Aim to have your waxing session 5-7 days prior to the occasion to ensure all redness and irritation has subsided. Read our Pre-Waxing guide for preparation steps and our Aftercare guide for the recommended Aftercare.
If a 'Touch-up' may be required between the session and the occasion, please talk to us.Unfortunately, reactions to waxing can occur on sensitive areas. It’s very unlikely to be an allergy to the wax. It is most often a histamine reaction (the body’s natural reaction to tissue injury) which will go away in 24-48 hours. Sometimes the reaction can be an infection, which is much more serious.
You must tell us if you are using any kind of retinol, peeling creams or have been taking antibiotics, as these may have an adverse effect on your wax aftercare.
If you experience bumps or ongoing irritation, call us! We will probably instruct you to apply a little cortisone or calendula cream on the area or ask you to come into the clinic so we can treat the area.
We cannot emphasise how important it is to call us about this.
We are used to this. It can be a little intimidating or uncomfortable to be partially or entirely naked with a stranger, but remember we are here to get the area cleaned and waxed. We aim to make all of our clients as comfortable as possible and we understand that you may be feeling anxious. Most clients feel very comfortable after their first session with us.
If you need the waxing session to pause or stop or you need some alone time, just tell us, this is not unusual for first time clients or for regulars when getting their first sensitive area waxing.
First time clients, we ask to sight Photo ID and we record that we have sighted it.
Under the age of 18 first time clients we ask that a parent, guardian or care giver attends the initial 15 minute consultation. Thereafter, the client is able to manage their own requests and bookings.
Brazilian / Brozilian (Front or Back) for under 18's is available but we need to chat with you first.
Our premises are video and Audio monitored however no intimate waxing is captured on video. This is for everyones safety and piece of mind. If you prefer this be disabled, just talk to us.
If it is your first time with us, your waxologist will do a quick consultation with you to ensure the best results and answer any questions you may have. Make sure you tell your waxologist:
The types of skin care you are using, such as retinol, vitamin A, skin lighteners, acids (glycolic, lactic, salicylic) etc.
If you have ever had any problems with waxing in the past.
About any allergies or skin conditions you may have.
If you are shy or more comfortable with certain positions. There are no right or wrong ways, just different techniques. If you are used to something in particular, please let us know. We are here to make you feel comfortable.
Ask about post-wax exfoliating options if you have concerns. Follow the instructions in our Pre-Waxing and Aftercare guides.
The easy answer is a definite No!
We will trim hair as needed to ensure the best possible wax application.
After careful assessment, we selected Jax Wax of Australia as our sole Wax, Pre and Post care products supplier. We may use or recommend one of our own hand crafted YoggieBear Skincare products for Aftercare use.
We prefer to use the Hot waxes however, in some areas such as arms and legs, we may use soft wax. If you have a preference, let us know.
